Derek Gardner, sadly missed

Designer of Tyrrell Formula One cars of the early 70’s (001 – 007 and P34) has passed-away (Jan 7th) after long illness. Tributes in Autosport and on Internet bring variety of praise for this gentle and humble genius. Having met Derek once and chatted on the telephone several times over the years since, I would like to honour him with these thoughts and by continuing with my own Tyrrell (and Lotus 56B turbine) projects, about which Derek lent his valuable comments, to help me on my way. What better way to bring blessing to Margaret and daughters Rachel and Helen, than to celebrate Derek with completion of these projects over the coming years (006/2 due completion in summer/autumn 2011. Monocoques oo1, 1974 and  1975 oo7’s waiting in the wings).
